It was issued from 1849 until 1967 and was worth one tenth of a Pound, or twenty-four old Pence. It also bears no relation to the medieval Gold Florin which was worth Six Shillings. Kiwi are flightless birds endemic to New Zealand of the order Apterygiformes. The five extant species fall into the family Apterygidae and genus Apteryx.
