1980s Topps Football Card Empty Vending Box (Not Wax), BBCE SEALED, VERY GOOD

Description: 1980s TOPPS FOOTBALL EMPTY VENDING BOXBBCE Authenticated & Sealed DESCRIPTION: A beautiful addition to any collection of high-grade vintage Topps packaging. A clean empty display box of the original 500-count vending-box release. Box code "1-081-69-01-7" on bottom panel. That code may indicate "1987," as the last number in vintage Topps wax box codes often indicated the year. But unfortunately there is no other identifying info on these boxes from the 1980s. (For what it's worth the owner also had a full 1982 Topps football vending-box case.) One owner since the 1980s. Identified as authentic and sealed by BBCE, freshly submitted and received (November 2024). The first set of photos are of the box with the BBCE seal. The second set of photos (the last two box pics) are of the box in its raw state, before submission to BBCE. AUTHENTICITY: Steve Hart of Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE), based in Schererville, Indiana, is the recognized industry leader in the authentication of wax packs and wax boxes. All BBCE-treated boxes feature a foam block inserted inside to maintain the square shape, a full wrap in an ultra-clear acid-free plastic, and a seal on bottom asserting its authenticity and identity, with holographic security features. CONDITION: VERY GOOD on a simple four-grade scale of Poor-Good-Very Good-Fine. No dents, chips, holes, or writing. Bold colors and bright whites with consistent image clarity. Sturdy and square even in raw state. Smooth panel surfaces with minor scratching or scuffing; no major creasing. Minor normal white/chipping on some edges and corners. PROVENANCE: This box came from a collection that had been untouched from the late 1980s until a few years ago. The collector also had many Topps football singles and boxes, along with one case (1982 vending).
