Plant grows to about 2 feet in height and produces fragrant pink-white flowers which bloom from June through August. Prairie Wild Rose seeds have a hard coating that requires stratification prior to planting. To start, rub the seeds lightly with sandpaper or soak them in 180°F water overnight. Then, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 4 months prior to planting. Direct sow in early spring by planting the seeds 1/2 inch deep in the soil. Keep seeds lightly moist until germination, which is slow and often irregular. Some seeds may not sprout until the following year.
