Description: Antique Inuit HAND CARVED CARBOU or REINDEER BONE Ceremonial Effigy Doll Canada Figurine 3.75" high x 3.5" wide VERY RARE. Museum/Gallery Quality PieceMy father traveled through Canada & Alaska in the early 1970s and brought this piece back for me. I do not have any paperwork, but it is an antique piece. A magnificent piece for a collector, will look beautiful on display.Excellent condition, magnificently carved. Hand carved from one solid piece of bone- this is either caribou or reindeer bone. Pristine & without ANY damage [no nicks chips cracks broken pieces or repairs], see all pics and use zoom. The arms and legs move, held in place by natural animal sinew which acts as a rope.The fingers on both hands have been detailed by carving spaces in between These were carried as effigies to bring healing and luck, and were not considered dolls or playthings- they were holy objects. This one has a wonderfully finished 'face' and great expression.
