Description: You are looking at an antique Victorian PIETRA DURA (Karlsbader Sprudelstein) Cigarette Case Holder or Visitation Card Holder or Wallet from the early 1900's. This wallet is engraved with the Czechoslovakian city and Europe's most famous spa town (in the early 1900's) of KARLSBAD (Karlovy Vary). The name of the city is engraved in hardstone. Surrounding the name is stunning hardstone inlay of numerous colors of marble. The stone was made by the hot springs (hence the name Der Karlsbader Sprudelstein) and used to make travel souvenirs. The design is just beautiful. The black color around the inlaid hardstone is a leather like material (maybe leather?) with silver colored embossed vine detail. The underside of the case is a red-brown leather color. When you open the case, you see a vibrant royal blue silk like material, and a light tan brown ornately cut material (leather like) as well. The metal edging around the case with it's clasp to hold it shut is a silver color that is engraved. The case opens and closes shut as it should. The case is about 5.5" x 3" x .75". A truly remarkable piece, rare and unique. Usual wear. Great for the collector of Pietra Dura and Cigarette Cases, Visitation Cases, etc... This will come as a package so that we both receive tracking. Thanks for looking!
