Description: Arisarum proboscideum Known as the "Mouse Plant" or "Mouse-Tail Plant", this wonderful little Arum relative offers unusual, purple-brown and white flowers on short stems, that are mostly hidden by the foliage. The hooded spathes are drawn up into a 6" tail-like tip that stands above the shiny green, arrowhead-like foliage, giving the flowers a "mouse tail" look. Native to shady woodlands of Italy and Spain, it makes a spreading colony to 2' wide and 3-6" tall, in moist, loamy soil, in shaded and filtered sun locations. May be grown in pots, and also makes a perfect companion for spring-flowering bulbs. The flowers are long lasting, and after blooming, the plants then lose their foliage and go dormant, until late winter to mid spring, depending on location. Hardy USDA Zones 7-9. All parts are toxic. Plant your rhizomes 3-4" deep, with 6" spacing, in well-drained but moisture retentive, loamy soil. This offering is for three small, blooming-size rhizomes. Shipped bareroot with some moss for protection and moisture. I have been growing rare and exotic plants for nearly 50 years, and take great pride in what I grow and ship.
