Description: This handsome demi-couture walking coat, or stroller, is from eminent American designer, Bill Blass. The coat has a very big windowpane plaid pattern in a double-breasted style (not function) with besom pockets and a hand-stitched lining, and dropped shoulders without shoulder pads. Based on the UNITE union label in the coat, we can date its manufacture to between 1995 and 2005. Its quality and expert workmanship would place it in the earlier years of this range, while Bill Blass was still at the helm of his company. In addition to the designer label, there is also a Saks Fifth Ave label in the coat. There should be a fabric label in the coat, but none is present. However, the shell is clearly wool. The whinsical dotted lining is also wool, and the sleeves are lined in hand-sewn black silk charmeuse. Labeled size 6; seems to run true to size considering the extra room that coats need to have to wear over other clothes.
