Description: Antique original c. 1915 Submarine F 6 figural tin litho and glass candy container. A&E 101. Geo. Borgfeldt & Co., New York, N. Y. Serial No. 2862, Net wt 1 1/4 oz., Pat Applied For. Most likely unmarked West Bros. The Compleat American Glass Candy Containers Handbook notes that the Serial No. 2862 also appears on Automobiles 41 and 43 put out by West Bros. Co., Grapeville, Pa. and appears on Many West Brothers containers. This container is NOT marked West Bros. 5 1/2 inches long. 2 inches tall. A really nice example of this scarce container. Old and original tin and glass. Tiny chip at tip of the glass, matching nick in the tin at the tip. Tin top has crazing. Tin bottom has scratching and color loss. Please see photos for condition. Flag and periscope are newer replacements and not sized correctly. The periscope is too large to fit in the hole at the top, the hole would need to be widened, which I wouldn't recommend. Guaranteed old and original.
