VERY GOOD / FINE CONDITION ESTIMATED PRODUCTION DATE: 1940s Fabulous rare capture of a teenage Elizabeth Taylor at roughly age 15 by famed studio photographer Clarence Sinclair Bull, produced for MGM's 1947 comedy-drama "Cynthia"! Bull is among the MOST collected of the legendary studio photographers, and this incredible portrait of a young innocent Taylor posed with a cute dog is very typical of Bull and an incredible testament to his skill. The photo evokes youth and purity, but also the glamorous womanhood that is soon to arrive for Taylor! Original publicity photos of Taylor from this period are exceptionally difficult to come by... you won't find many originals on Ebay or elsewhere for that matter. Studio codes, Bull notation and snipe at verso... This Elizabeth Taylor photo comes from what we are dubbing the "Elizabeth Taylor MGM Collection." We are truly fortunate to have acquired a very large collection of original MGM publicity photos of the early part of Elizabeth Taylor's screen career. Consisting exclusively of portrait and publicity photos (not screen shots) dating from the beginning of her screen career with MGM in the early 1940s through her rapid ascent in the early 1950s, this has to be one of the finest collections of such photos in private hands. The span of images of Taylor from age 9 through 15 is breathtaking considering how difficult it is to find original publicity shots from this period. The collection is also rich in candids of the youthful Taylor, again among the scarcest and most coveted photos by Taylor collectors. Many of the photos have MGM archive markings at the verso. This photo is guaranteed VINTAGE AND ORIGINAL to the period it was taken. It is not a later re-strike or modern print. It is not computer generated. GRADING: We use comic book grading standards, as defined by Overstreet and Comic Guarantee Corp., for grading all of our paper collectibles. These strict standards are well-developed and widely accepted. The various grades we use are generally applied as follows: Near Mint - item is bright and clean, virtually defect-free and appears "like new"... image is sharp... any defects would be barely perceptible and only visible upon close inspection. Very Fine / Near Mint - at first glance appears near mint but upon close inspection very minor degradation or one or two very small defects become apparent. Very Fine - generally clean and bright and still high grade and desirable but may have a few small defects (e.g., minor corner crease, light bend, subtle image degradation, etc.). Fine - average grade... nice collectible item but defects are more noticable and apparent.. may have some soiling or image issues. Very Good - lower grade... wear and tear is readily apparent... item is still complete though. Good - low grade... heavy defects... could be a piece missing from a corner or a major tear.
