Description: Maxfield Parrish - “The Argonauts In Quest of the Golden Fleece”. Original Period-Framed Illustration from the 1910 1st Edition of Hawthorne's "A Wonderbook and Tanglewood Tales" (facing page 340). Image is 6 1/4" x 5". Outermost frame dimensions are 8 3/4”x 6 3/4”. This image (uncommon in print form) first appeared as the color frontispiece in the March, 1910 issue of Collier’s Magazine featuring Greek Mythology VI, issued as a print the same year and as an illustration in Hawthorne’s book. Parrish’s MP not discernible in bottom left corner due to coloration. A nice size/cost alternative to the full size print (Ref. Flacks 4th. Ed. Page 52, (photo #15)). In a nice Parrish frame, it is backed with acid-free backing, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons October, 2024 and ready to hang. Please visit my other Parrish listings.
