Meito Creamer & Covered Sugar Set Hand Painted Japan Tree in Meadow 1921-30's

Description: Meito Creamer & Covered Sugar Set Hand Painted Japan Tree in Meadow 1921-30's A beautiful Meito Company CREAMER & COVERED SUGAR SET in a variation of Tree in the Meadow pattern from Japan Meito China was in operation from 1908-1970?s.  In 1908, Kotero Asukai, who was a former employee of Noritake, founded the Nagoya Seito Sho Company which operated until sold during WWII and the name changed to Narumi Seito Sho.  The Meito China mark continued to be used with variations in the crown mark.  Since many Noritake artisans joined Asukai, the hand painted porcelain shows a marked resemblance to Noritake.  The pattern on this set closely resembles Noritake's Tree in the Meadow pattern.  This set dates from 1921 to before WWII. This pattern is so elegantly serene.  The peaceful snow covers the meadow and highlights the two conifer trees in the foreground and the conifer forest in the background.  The sharp contrast of the greens on the conifer trees compliments early spring purple blooms on the two front trees.  The beautiful sky has oranges fading to yellow and both colors are reflected on the snow and the water in the lake.  The most whimsical part of the skillful artist's work is the tree top that is playfully completed on the cover of the sugar bowl.  The front side of the handles, the center of the handles, the center of the handle on the lid, and the rims of the tops of the bowl and creamer are all highlighted in gold.  The creamer has a height of 3 inches, a diameter of 2 3/8 inches, and the length from the tip of the spout to the curve of the handle being 3 7/8 inches.  The sugar bowl has a height of 2 1/2 inches with the cover adding another 7/8 inch, a diameter of 3 3/8 inches, and the length from the tip of the curve of one handle to the tip of the curve of the other handle being 5 3/8 inches. This set is classified as used, but shows virtually no wear.  There are no rubbings, nicks, hairlines, or repairs to this stunning creamer & covered sugar set.  The handle of the creamer has a small dark spot in the slip under the glaze.  This is the way it was made and just adds character!
