Framed: 18" x 13" BIOGRAPHY: Eli Levin, A.K.A., Jo Basiste is an American Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1938, and was influenced by the artistic movements of Social Realism and Regionalism. “Levin’s technique and style are flawless and he’s one of the leading contemporary regional artists in America,” said Bob Read, curator for the university’s Ray Drew Gallery. “He’s a prolific painter who captures the essence of the lives of ordinary people in New Mexico.” Eli Levin‘s artworks have been widely exhibited, including in many Santa Fe area galleries, at the Las Vegas (Nevada) Art Museum, and at the Harwood Museum of Art (in Taos, New Mexico).
