Description: Rare and near-complete 'run' of 20 daily musical programs from historic Willow Grove Park, PA, featuring JOHN PHILIP SOUSA & His Band during the 1917 season from August 19th - September 9th. Sousa's Band was the major musical attraction at Willow Grove from 1901-1926 missing only the 1911 season as they were on their famous Tour Around The World. Besides views of the daily programs grouped by week, please examine the images of the opening and closing days. Please be advised: programs for Wednesday, Aug. 22nd and Saturday, Sept. 1st are missing but will provide scans or copies at the winner's request. A lifetime of collecting would probably not afford you the opportunity to own every program from the most famous band in the world so please consider our B-I-N option to avoid disappointment! As many of these were removed from a bound volume, you can expect small thread holes, minor paper loss, tears, glue residue, and marginal chipping which does not detract from the text while others show wear, folds, soiling from being handled or perhaps used as fans on those sweltering summer days! One major milestone in this engagement was the legendary cornet soloist, Herbert L. Clarke, played his final concert with Sousa's Band on Sunday, September 9th and was heavily featured throughout the day!
