Sunlight and Lighting:Provide strong sunlight or strong LED plant lights. I use one light bulb positioned 3 inches above the tallest part of the tree. The tree is originally from Florida. 2. Temperature:Maintain warm or hot temperatures. In colder climate zones, only place the tree outside during the summer. The tree is originally from Florida and should never be exposed to winter conditions. 3. Root Care:Avoid damaging the roots, as they are very delicate. Once the tree has established roots, do not attempt to push it into soil or a pot to reposition it, as the roots can easily snap. 4. Stem Care:There is a ring around the stem where it suddenly becomes thinner and a new stem starts to grow from the thicker part. The part of the stem above this ring should not be submerged in water for extended periods. 5. Stem Color Changes:It is normal for some parts of the green stem to turn into healthy-looking brown bark. However, if it turns dark green or black, it may indicate that the tree is rotting or dying. 6. Media Options: This tree always needs to be in standing water. Media 1:1-5 inches of potting soil, 1-2 inches of any sand to keep it tidy, and 1-5 inches of standing freshwater. The water might spoil, so check it occasionally. Water snails, water plants, and floating plants will help keep the water clean. If the water gets too dirty, simply change it. Media 2:Freshwater or fish tank water: This works temporarily but ultimately, you will need to provide nutrients through soil or fertilizers. It’s best if the roots are potted in substrate for ample nutrition. Media 3:Saltwater: Gradually increase the salinity of the saltwater over a couple of months. The tree was originally grown in fresh water and may get shocked if transferred directly to saltwater. Provide nutrients in the form of fish tank water or fertilizers, and it is best to have the roots in substrate. Please check out my eBay store for FREE combined shipping.
