Description: Solid Silver Inkwell With Watch Lid 1907. Superb working condition hallmarked London 1907 with pocket watch to inside lid. Capstan Inkstand with clear glass inkwell, and gentleman’s pocket watch to inner lid. Pocket watch - 50mm diameter. Recently cleaned and serviced, working well and keeping time. Top wind, lever escapement movement, in excellent working condition. Watch made by Swiss company Aero, specialist in gentleman’s watches from first part 20 th century. Solid silver inkwell- 128mm diameter to base. Weighted base and glass insert inkwell. Made by celebrated silver maker: William Comyns and Sons Ltd, trading 1891-1913. This inkwell hallmarked London 1907, to base, lid and watch cover. Excellent overall condition, a couple of very , very light marks. No significant damage at all, just general light wear from last 110 years of general use. Hinge to top cover holding watch is very good and closes snugly and flat. Watch can be removed by twisting top until lugs allow it to be slid off. Watch can be wound and hands adjusted without removal from ink stand. All in all a rare piece in completely original condition. No restoration, no soldering, no significant dents and no scratches . I bought in my antique shop in 1990, it was in such good condition and watch worked, I couldn’t bear to sell it. In my loft for thirty years never seeing daylight. I have given movement a service and checked the time and still perfect. Will be well packed and tracked. Postage high as it will be insured!!
