At a minimum a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1970's Sheffield Allsport has a glossy black "T SWISS MADE S" signed dial that under the scratched and cracked crystal appears to be in lovely condition. The lume, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. As clearly seen in pictures 9 through 11 the hour markers from 4 to 9 o'clock have what appear to be slight horizontal impressions (although it's hard to tell if they are impressions or discoloration). The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear and oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF - STAINLESS STEEL BACK - SHOCKRESISTANT" with "GUARANTEED 5 ATM. TESTED - SWISS MADE" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal should be replaced.While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to remove. While the date and time can be set without issue the crown cannot be wound, likely suggesting that the mainspring needs to be replaced. The date wheel rolls over at 12 am. This movement does not have a quickset date function. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9 mm. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now.
