Description: Here is a Vintage Gruen Precision "waterproof" Silver (Steel) men's classic dress (not gold) watch!. These have the look of the early 60s the same as the famous Gruen worn by Sean Connery in 1963's "Dr. No" but with the added date feature. These are amazingly reliable watches. After getting it serviced (see below) it gains about 30 to 45 seconds a day. -I took it in to have it serviced with the goal of wearing it for life. My repair guy (watch maker!) said it was fine as is but he saw only one potential issue, a fine crack in one of the wheels (gears) that he could easily replace to remove any doubt. "Go for it" said I and he adjusted it for accuracy. He told me to wear it for a month and come back to readjust the accuracy. I never did. --I'm selling mine because of conflict resolution with my sibling for Dad's watch. We all hated losing Dad, he was the best, and we all wanted a part of him to take with us after his loss. Dad promised me his Gruen but my sibling really made a ruckus. Dad loved the movie *Dr. No* and noticed the silver Gruen with the "12" at the top and the "sticks" for the other 11 markers (his did not have the date feature) On Bond's (Connery) wrist! He admired it enough to notice one at a department store and try it on. He wore through the 60s and 70s until those digital watches came in and he went over to those for a while. But he still wore his Gruen on many occasions. I gave in and let my sibling take it. In the end I thought I would buy another one just like Dad's and be okay with it. This one is actually a bit cleaner than Dad's. The sumburst effect is brighter too. My sibling soon had a change of heart and offered it back to me. I asked him if he would like this one I got online and he said he only wanted to be closer to Dad and felt that giving me back what was promised was part of that pledge. So now I have two. I would be violating my resolution not to have doubles of things anymore so I have to let it go. I'm selling the nicer one to you. Dad's needs a servicing ... this one is freshly serviced. New wheel inside. All fully lubricated. Ready for decades of reliable timekeeping.you could take it to your watchmaker to see if they can get it to lose or gain 1 second a day in stead of 30-45. But it's fabulous as is. No gaudy gold. Very understated. I'm selling it for less than I bought it for which was $144 with tax and ship. Here we have $115 plus 5 day shipping. I have not worn it more than 2 times before my dad's watch came back to me. So it's fresh for you. I'm ready to ship it to you well packed - and pass it over the USPS counter as soon as I can after you buy it. Thank you .. and thank you from my family.
