Description: Vintage Bausch and Lomb eyeglasses with original case and a cleaning cloth with the optometrist name, address and three-digit phone number. These are octagon-shaped with the gold rimmed portion on the top and no rim along the bottom half. There are markings on each side piece and along the nose bridge denoting B and L (the markings for Bausch and Lomb) and 12k gold filled. The glass seems to be in pretty good condition for its age and they seem to have magnifying portions like bifocals on the lower half. Both nose pieces are present. The original case is present and the lining is good but the outer surface of the case shows wear. The coolest thing about this is that it includes the original cleaning cloth marked with the doctors name, address and phone number: "Dr. Stanley Martin, Optometrist, Sturgis Building, Phone 486, Sturgis, Michigan" Phone numbers with only 3 digits go back to the beginning of public telephone use dating back to 1892-1893 era. These beautiful glasses and case are survivors for more than a century! Please look at all photos as they are a part of the description. I am not an expert on antique eyeglasses so the most I can do is show a lot of photos and describe what I see. But if you have any questions or need more pictures, just ask and I'll get right back to you! I ship out very fast, either the day of the sale/payment or the very next business day. I pack all vintage and fragile items securely so they make their way safely to you. Thank you for looking!
