Vintage Tudor 7966 Prince-Oysterdate Auto Watch with Original Black Gilt Dial

Description: Beautiful 1964 Tudor reference 7966 "Prince-Oysterdate" self-winding wristwatch with amazing original glossy black gilt dial. Please refer to the photos, which are an integral part of the description. This watch has one of the best original black gloss/gilt dials that I've seen on one of these, with just the very slightest of surface spotting/pitting to the lacquer when viewed under a loupe. The dial carries the early small Tudor "Rose" symbol and is correctly marked with just "Swiss" below the 6 o'clock marker. Original "alpha" shape hour and minute hands, with a slight loss of luminous material from the hour hand. Good condition case. The case serial (446074) and reference number (7966) remain fully legible with the help of a loupe). The case-back screws down smoothly and securely. The inside of the case-back is date stamped 1.64 (first quarter of 1964). The Rolex crown screws down securely onto the tube. The movement appears clean. The watch sets, winds and runs, the autowind rotor turns freely, and the movement has kept good time when worn over a period of several days (to within a minute over 3-4 days). Service history is unknown, so please assume that the watch would benefit from a service if it's to be worn regularly. Sold head-only with no strap or buckle included. The strap shown on some of the photos is for illustration only. No box or papers. Overall, a very good example of the Tudor 7966 with as nice a dial as I've seen.
